The John Wallis Academy

2011

Diocesan Architects were appointed in 2011 to generate a master plan for the entire academy which is currently using a series of disjointed sites and buildings to create one unified centre for learning. The plan for the main academy building is focused around the theatre, chapel and library spaces generating a strong central axis of movement. Issues of public access are also address by layering the building from the entrance into more private internal spaces. Links are also generated between the academy and a proposed 2FE primary school which would use part of an existing building. The site strategy as a whole looks to resolve traffic management issues and potential clashes between pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
